ABOUT MONTGOMERY CUSTOM HOMES

It all began in Waco, Texas in 1946 when Carl D. Montgomery built his first home. He went on to build hundreds of homes, apartments, and churches throughout Texas from the late 40's to the mid 80's. His son Royce, worked with him building homes and came home from college during the summers to earn extra money to help pay his way through school. As a third generation homebuilder, Matt is continuing in his grandfather's and father's footsteps.

As a young boy, he was introduced to construction by them, but eventually came back to building to make it his life's work after college. In 1994, Matt graduated from Texas Christian University with a B.B.A. in Finance. He worked in the mortgage industry for several years before entering the U.S. Peace Corps.

He served as a Peace Corps volunteer in Ukraine and taught Economics to high school students through the junior achievement program. Matt said, "Traveling and living abroad taught me a lot about myself. But more importantly, it humbled me. It made me realize how lucky we are as Americans to have all the things that we do and not to take things for granted."

Before starting Montgomery Custom Homes, Matt was a lead builder for David Weekley Homes in Dallas, where he was named Builder of the Year in 2005. In February 2009, he completed his Certified Green Professional Designation through the National Association of Home Builders and is currently pursuing additional Green building designations. Montgomery Custom Homes is dedicated to the Green building initiative and is always in pursuit of continuing education. Matt said, "As your personal builder, I will do my best to make this the most enjoyable home building experience possible."

We would love to hear about your project
